Witchcraft

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you:

who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, (abortion)

who practices divination or sorcery, (some video games)

interprets omens, (Astrology)

engages in witchcraft, (reading about Vampires and Zombies)

or casts spells, (Harry Potter)

or who is a medium or spiritist (Fortune-teller)

or consults the dead. (Seances)

Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord,

and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you.

You must be blameless before the Lord your God.”   –Deuteronomy 18:9-13

I am happy to be NARROW MINDED

Narrow MindedI came across this pic today.  They make it sound like narrow-minded is a bad thing. Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”  -Matt 7:13

Being narrow-minded is a good thing. Making sure you can enter by the narrow gate is what a true follower of Jesus strives to do.

“Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matt 7:14

Pretty strong words.

So yes, I am narrow minded. I have set my mind to enter through the narrow gate.

Imagine

IMG_1417

Last night, I heard a young man sing “Imagine”, the song made famous by John Lennon. The lyrics really gripped me as I understood what they really mean.

Link to original lyrics: http://www.lyrics007.com/John%20Lennon%20Lyrics/Imagine%20Lyrics.html

Oh, it sounds pretty…..

BUT What if we really look at this in Spirit and Truth?

Imagine there’s no heaven –- Why would we want to dismiss Heaven?

It’s easy if you try –- yes, it’s easy because the darkness hates the Light

No hell below us– Well there IS a Hell and you don’t want to go there!

Above us only sky—sounds so pretty, but it’s deceptive

Imagine all the people living for today—Today is the Day to turn to the Lord

Imagine there’s no countries—One World Government

It isn’t hard to do—It’s easy to go along with the crowd, hard to stand for what is right

Nothing to kill or die for—I don’t want to kill anyone, but I have to be ready to lay down my life for Christ.

And no religion too—Well it’s not about religion as much as a relationship with the Living God

Imagine all the people living life in peace—There is no peace apart from Jesus, the Prince of Peace

You, you may say I’m a dreamer—Deceived is more like it

But I’m not the only one—sadly, no you’re not the only one

I hope someday you’ll join us—No, by the grace of God, I won’t join you

And the world will be as one—Deception at its greatest. This can never be achieved by mankind alone.

Imagine no possessions—We need possessions to live on this earth, there is nothing evil about that, unless you are greedy and don’t share and don’t help those in need

I wonder if you can—I choose not to

No need for greed or hunger—Greed/The Love of Money is the root of all evil (not money itself, but the idolatry of it

A brotherhood of man—compromise? No thank you

Imagine all the people sharing all the world—sounds pretty, but at what cost?

SO, many of you might “unfollow” me today. That’s ok. Do what you must.

The world is experiencing so many disruptive things, and as humans, we desire peace and safety. Using only human means, we think we could just all join together and everything will be fine. But study history: it doesn’t happen. We need Divine Intervention.

We live in a fallen world. It will never be perfect until Jesus comes back. Meanwhile, we need to seek the Lord while He may be found, spend time with our brothers and sisters in the Lord, read His Word, and pray, pray, pray for the spiritual blindness to come off the eyes of those who do not yet know Him.

What would you like for dinner?

0503130849a  This is my kitchen table. Doesn’t that sledgehammer look yummy? How about the mold and mildew remover? Would you like a dust-mask with that?

We are in the process of getting the house ready for sale so it’s kinda crazy around here.

Last week, I went to my Weight Watchers meeting. The Leader asked, “What are some things that prevent you from tracking?” (“Tracking” is Weight Watchers-speak for writing down everything you eat.)

There were a few responses: Laziness, Takes too much time.

I explained, “I can’t find the kitchen table.”

They laughed, but I was telling the truth…..

I talk, I don’t TWEET

Flipped

Flipped (Photo credit: yum9me)

I have started to turn into my grandfather. Let me explain. My grandfather was born in 1903. There was a certain way of life that people experienced in those days. During his lifetime, radio and television entered the home. Cars became attainable for the middle class, and then became a necessity for those who lived in the suburbs or “country.” He moved along with technology during his life time, updating his car, his radio and even bought a color TV.

But he drew the line at air conditioning. He refused to accept it. It could be 100 degrees in the shade, but he would sit there in his long-sleeve shirt and sweater, and simply run the fan.

My poor mother, who became his chauffeur in the latter part of his life, drove him around town with the windows down, and her hairstyle blown in the wind.

I didn’t understand what the big deal was. I was a computer programmer for the majority of my career days. I used to love all the new gadgets.

But I’m done.

My car still has roll-down windows. I don’t want a new car. What if I am forced off the road by a mysterious black SUV, my car forced into the river, and I am stuck underwater, and my electric windows won’t go down, and I can’t find anything to break the window with.  (Yes, I watch too much TV.)

I have an old flip phone. I don’t have the internet on my phone, nor Facebook or email access.

And I don’t TWEET.

The idea of sending every waking thought, good or bad, into the social atmosphere is something that I should not do. I don’t think sharing every bad thought with my “followers” would be a good use of my time while I type it, or of their time as they read it.

If I have something to say, I will say it….or write it.  If it’s really crazy, it will go into my notebook, and not see the light of day. Or the light of someone’s phone.

I was told once by a former boss, before going into a meeting, “No sudden outbursts.” I have been known to voice my opinion, albeit non-popular, when the mood strikes.

I fear that if I tweet my opinion too often, it will hurt the Ozone Layer, disturb the birdies in the trees, and generally cause havoc with electricity, and weather patterns in the earth.

I will stick to old fashioned verbal, and more often– written communication. But not in the form of a TWEET.

Will I reach 100?

A residential smoke detector is the most famil...

I have been blogging for 2 years now. It started out as an anonymous place to ‘vent’ –but it’s evolved. Sometimes I just write about common stuff, like my dog, and setting off the smoke alarm every time I cook. Many times, my blog talks about my faith in Jesus, and how I am able to get through the day with His Presence helping me.

I noticed that I now have 94 followers. As one of my blogging buddies stated, followers is not my favorite word–maybe it should be readers.

I can’t help but get a little excited that I will soon reach the 1-0-0. Some people have become cyber-space-pals during the two years. Others I don’t know as well, but I’m glad that they find my words worth investigating.

Some readers are friends in real life, and I am always encouraged when they take the time to tell me that they can relate to one thing or another that I’ve written about.

Like many bloggers, my verbal communication skills are not as good as I would like; writing comes a little easier to me.  Of course, writing takes more time, but it also gives you the chance to backspace, correct an error, run spell check and use a thesaurus to find a better word.

Verbal communication seldom gives you such an easy do-over.

So I look forward to having 100 readers, and “meeting” them in cyber-space, and being pals.

Hopefully, I will have interesting something to say!

I can’t find the floor!

462This is an old saying of mine; for those times when life is so insane, that I feel that I am standing on quicksand:

“I can’t find the floor!”

We are re-painting the inside of the house. We are hoping to put the house on the market soon. We are downsizing–but we might move to a different state, or we might stay here. We don’t know.

The house is cluttered with furniture out of place, dog hair (!), plastic to protect the floors, paint spots that hit the floors anyway, papers that need to be shredded, and papers that have been shredded,  boxes of packed items, bags of old clothes to be donated, shoes, boots, sandals and slippers.

My dog, Bailey, reminds us when it’s time to walk him, and time to feed him. Good thing, because I might forget!

I don’t dare put the news on TV. Another shooting, another bombing, another plot.

Where is the floor?!
